This week we received information on recycling tonnage from the Lorain County Solid Waste District. Wellington was measured as increasing recycling tonnage from 279.9 tons in 2013 to 502.7 tons in 2014, an increase of 84%.
Recycled materials are collected in the green totes on a weekly basis.
The solid waste districts distributes an incentive grant to Lorain County communities based upon the relative amount of recycled tonnage in the county. Wellington accounts for approximately 1.7% of the county population but recycled 2.6% of the tonnage collected in the county.
