The Village of Wellington exercises its powers of local self-government and municipal home rule through the adoption of a Charter. Every 5 years, a charter review commission is elected for the purpose of reviewing the provisions of the Charter and making written recommendations, if any, to the Council for revisions to the Charter. The Council shall cause the recommendations to be submitted to a vote of the electors by way of Charter amendment.
The Charter Review Commission is undertaking this Charter review in 2021. Below is a link to the Charter Review Commission’s Rules of Procedure document which includes information on how members of the public may participate in the charter review process.
