Wellington Public Water System News Release 11/23/2022
The Village of Wellington’s public water system has completed lead and copper testing for the second half of 2022. Forty (40) residential homes were tested plus four (4) additional water quality sites for a total of forty-four (44) samples tested. As a reminder, lead and copper testing is only performed at “Tier 1” sites which typically means older homes that have private lead service lines and or copper plumbing when leaded solder was used. Newer constructed homes are not impacted.
Test results showed:
The 90th percentile for lead was 10 ug/l. This is below the Ohio EPA Action Level of 15 ug/l.
The 90th percentile for copper was 45 ug/l, well under the Ohio EPA Action Level of 1,300 ug/l.
As a result, all EPA required public education messaging on water bills has stop, and the lead level advisory on the Ohio EPA’s website for Wellington’s Water was removed.
The Village would like to thank all of our customers who participated in lead and copper testing.
If you have any questions about the Village’s lead and copper testing program, please call the Water Plant Superintendent, Jon Love, at 440-647-3164.
