VILLAGE OF WELLINGTON WATER TREATMENT FACILITY UPDATE
Yesterday, the Village of Wellington’s Water and Electric Departments continued their repair work at the Water Plant and were able to provide electric service to the system to begin producing water onsite again.
The Village was able to maintain system pressure during the fire event and throughout yesterday because of our mutual aid agreements. The Village would like to thank Rural Lorain County Water Authority for providing supplementary flow throughout Tuesday, and to the City of Oberlin for providing additional backstop protection should it have become necessary.
The Villages Electric Department restored power to the filtration systems onsite, and as a result, the Village was able to resume making water. The Village immediately replenished its reserves systemwide.
Residents can now resume normal water utilization. While there is much work ahead for the Village to repair the damage to the plant and to restore full capacity, the Village has fully restored the baseline water needs of the community.
We will continue to keep the residents updated through the plant’s repair process.
We owe a debt of gratitude to several departments. Firstly, thank you to the Wellington Fire Department and the additional mutual aid personnel who fought the fire and saved the plant’s most important systems.
Secondly, thank you to the Villages Water, Electric and the Public Works personnel who have worked continuous shifts to innovatively create solutions to get the water production up and running again.
Our employees are our greatest asset, and we are grateful for them. They go above and beyond the call of duty to serve our residents.
