VILLAGE OF WELLINGTON
West Street/Johns Street Infrastructure Replacement Project
Project expected start date: end of July – Expected completion date: November - 2025
Subject: West Street and Johns Street Infrastructure Replacement Project
The Village of Wellington wishes to notify the residents of West Street, portions of Johns Street, Union Street, Middle Street and W. Herrick Ave. that the Infrastructure Replacement Project is scheduled to commence beginning in approximately two weeks weather permitting. D2 Excavating will be replacing the old water mains and installing new water lines using directional drilling to minimize road disruption and improve service reliability. The installation of new sanitary and storm sewers will follow, and restoration will be the final phase of this project.
As part of this critical infrastructure improvement, the Village’s contractor will be replacing known lead water service lines from the curb stop to the water meter located inside affected homes. This work will be performed at no cost to the property owner.
Please be advised that during the replacement of these lead service lines, lead particles may become dislodged, potentially resulting in elevated lead levels in household drinking water for a period of time.
To mitigate this risk, point-of-use lead removal water filter pitchers, along with a 90-day supply of replacement cartridges, will be made available free of charge upon request. Residents wishing to obtain a pitcher and cartridges may pick them up at the following location during regular business hours:
Village of Wellington Electric Department
98 Johns Street
Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
