Rail Fans

Overview
Wellington is a great place for the rail fan. With over 60 trains transiting the Village every day, you don’t have to wait long to see a train along the CSX double track mainline. The Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad also passes through the Village. There are two great places to watch trains in the village, at the train themed shelter beside the crossing on West Herrick Street, or along the north bank of the upground reservoir. Consult the map for more information on these locations.

Wellington also is home to an excursion railroad, the Lorain and West Virginia Railway. The station for the L&WE is located at the west end of the village on State Route 18.

Please consult their website for details on excursion schedules and reservations.
And for those that bring their spouse along, there are also quaint shops, a coffee shop and restaurants within easy walking distance from the downtown shelter. There is also a nice train/toy shop located downtown that is happy to have visits from rail fans.
